Microsoft capitalization exceeded $ 2 trillion for the first time


Shares of IT giant Microsoft (NASDAQ: MSFT) in the main session on Tuesday rose 1.1% to $ 265.51 per share. As a result, the capitalization of Bill Gates' company reached $ 2 trillion, according to trading data. It took Microsoft 33 years since the IPO to surpass the $ 1 trillion mark and another 2 years for the $ 2 trillion mark.

The first company with a capitalization of $ 2 trillion was the largest oil corporation in Saudi Arabia, Saudi Aramco (now the capitalization is $ 1.9 trillion). Apple exceeded the next mark ($ 2.24 trillion). The largest online retailer Amazon ($ 1.77 trillion) and Alphabet, the parent company of Google ($ 1.67 trillion), is also approaching this level.
